House on the Common
( 2021 )

Our first whole-home renovation. An Edwardian semi-detached, taken back to brick and reimagined with Shacklewell Architects — the kitchen placed at the centre of the ground floor, dining at the front, living opening onto the garden. A home built around how a young family gathers.

Our clients had strong instincts, a well-trained eye, and — as Andrew puts it — inspiration overload. Our first job was editorial: distilling what they loved into what was right for the house, the light, the proportions. A narrow footprint shaped the central decision — a slimline, fluted island that creates a gathering space without crowding the room. Herringbone bandsawn wood flooring ties the newly connected ground-floor spaces together; Crittall-style doors open the rear living room to the garden. It set the direction for how we think about family homes today. Featured in LivingEtc, House & Garden and Homes & Gardens.
